I'm Royce Miller, and my career in Human Services started in 1996. I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals across various populations in the mental health field. My extensive training in counseling has equipped me to address a wide range of mental illnesses and behavioral disorders. Over the past 16 years, I have focused on providing care and support to adolescents and couples, helping them navigate their challenges and find healing.
About Royce
Royce Van Miller I is a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in Clemson, S.C. Royce has been the owner of There Is Hope Counseling, LLC since 2014 serving children, adolescents, and adults. There Is Hope Counseling (TIH) offers individual, couples, and family counseling. Understanding that every client is on their own journey and that every client has unique needs, Royce seeks to understand how his clients have arrived where they are and works with them to attain their desired goals in life. Royce’s goal is to help every client embrace the challenges their journey presents with courage and faith. He strives to help individuals to become more emotionally healthy within themselves and their relationships. Royce worked in the field of Human Services for 22 years. He worked for the Department of Mental Health for 6 years as a Counselor in Columbia, S.C., the Department of Social Services in Richland County for 6 years as a Social Worker, Anderson School District 5 for 7 years as Director of Anderson 5 Academy, and Anderson School District 4 for 3 years serving as a Counselor in the Focus Program. In Anderson District 4, Royce was also a McKinney Vento Liaison.
In 1997, Royce and his wife Alfreda Miller created the first Saturday Academy through Hope Worldwide, S.C. in Columbia, S.C. serving underprivileged youth. The program still exists today. Royce has presented in speaking engagements, to an annual Youth Congress of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, the South Carolina Counseling Association, BOLD Leadership of Greenville, S.C., the Psychology Club at Clemson University, and the Caring Connections Conference at Clemson University. Royce serves as a member of the South Carolina Counseling Association, the International Schema Therapy Society and he serves as an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 161 in Clemson, S.C. Royce is also trained in Restorative Justice, Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, and Good Enough Parenting.
Becoming a follower of Jesus, in 1992, changed the direction of Royce’s life personally and professionally. He went from the typical college student wanting to make the most money that he could to wanting to help those who are harassed and helpless. This is why Royce does what he does. He wants to serve his fellow man by loving people where they are by helping them feel validated, and by helping them find their footing, direction, and place in this world. Life is hard and we need others to help us along our journey. We can’t do it alone.
Royce and his wife Alfreda have two sons; that they have raised. Royce Van Miller II, 25 years old, is serving in the United States Air Force. Sean Gillison Miller 21 attends Dean College in Massachusetts. Sean is a talented Ballet and Contemporary Dancer as well as a Licensed Cosmetologist. Royce’s wife Alfreda is an educator certified in Special Education and literacy. Royce enjoys working out as a member of F3 Clemson, Valley of Death, a men’s workout group that meets most morning’s at 5:30 am on Clemson’s Campus. He also, enjoys having quiet times with God daily.
